The Psychiatric Services Program (PSP) serves voluntary as well as civilly committed adults with mental illness. PSP at LSH has a catchment area within the state that encompasses a majority of the centralized and western counties whereas the eastern part of the state is serviced by Osawatomie State Hospital. The patients who enter PSP are required to be screened by a qualified mental health professional from one of the community mental health centers in Central and Western Kansas or be referred under an order of evaluation or treatment from a judge. The primary focus of the PSP program is to provide psychiatric care to help stabilize those that are a mentally ill person, lacks capacity to make informed decisions concerning treatment, is likely to cause harm to self or others, and is in need of treatment. The PSP program is budgeted for 90 beds. PSP’s Leadership Team encompasses professionals such as the Administrative Program Director, Clinical Program Director, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Social Services, Activity Therapist Director, and Unit Leaders.
