Compensation

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary: This position is designed to provide supervision of evaluator(s) as well as direct service for competency evaluations and restoration treatment in Kansas. This position is remote but will provide individual and group educational sessions in jails or at other secure locations across the State of Kansas for court-ordered competency restoration cases and competency evaluation as ordered by the District Courts in Kansas. This position will also provide education on competency restoration and treatment and work with multiple agencies in Kansas, to coordinate and collaborate to provide services as assigned. The person in this position must demonstrate age- and culture-specific interactions and be competent in the provision of services needed as described in LSH’s policies and procedures. This position works remotely work off LSH campus and entails traveling to county jails and settings throughout the state to provide services and can provide supervision/oversight remotely for evaluations at LSH. Work will be dynamic and this individual must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently. 

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Supervises outpatient forensic service providers, providing review of evaluations, ensuring legal requirements are met to meet Kansas Statutes.
  • Reviews and provides oversight for forensic evaluations.
  • Provides education to subordinate
  • Attends mandatory meetings, in-service training sessions, and other trainings as required by position.
  • Manages and oversees subordinate employee training and competency requirements to maintain trained employees.
  • Meet in individual or group settings to provide services to defendants or inmates detained in Kansas jails or other locations.
  • Meets with individuals in county jails, at the state hospital, or in other locations.
  • Complete competency restoration sessions as assigned.
  • Complete forensic evaluations following agency policy, best practices, and legal requirements.
  • Meet in group or individual settings to provide services to defendants or inmates detained in Kansas jails, at a state hospital, or other settings.
  • Follow current best forensic practices by attending relevant trainings and maintains licensure.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with locations to maintain safety during sessions.
  • The individual in this position has access to Protected Health Information (PHI) under the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). PHI must be safeguarded and released in accordance with the provisions of the HIPAA Privacy Regulations and state and federal law.
  • Document sessions and interactions as outlined in the Documentation Systems Manual, working in compliance in regard to content and time frames, with LSH Policy and Procedures and State Mandates.
  • Provides education on competency evaluation and treatment to state and local agencies, Mental Health Centers, or other appropriate locations.
  • Attends educational training as instructed by LSH and/or KDADS.
  • Submits regular updates to the KDADS Legal Liaison, SSP Clinical and Administrative Program Directors, and others as indicated.
  • Serves as a witness in court if subpoenaed.
  • Follow LSH, KDADS, HR, and State Security Program policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


Qualifications

Licensing and Certification:  

  • Masters (LMLP or LCP) or Doctoral degree in clinical psychology to: Masters or Doctoral degree in clinical psychology and licensed in the State of Kansas as either a LMLP, LCP, or LP

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Masters (LMLP or LCP) or Doctoral degree in clinical psychology to: Masters or Doctoral degree in clinical psychology and licensed in the State of Kansas as either a LMLP, LCP, or LP
  • 1-year experience in completing forensic evaluations
  • 1-year supervisory experience.
  • An approved drug test unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similar duties.

Preferred Qualifications:  

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:  

  • Ability to pass a KBI background and pre-employment drug test.
