Compensation

$35/hour

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:  The psychologist in this position provides the full range of psychological services (e.g. assessment/testing, evaluation, treatment planning, treatment team duties, and treatment services including individual and group therapy).  This psychologist will be expected to serve as a resource to the treatment team and other psychologists for behavior management strategies and programming, and best practices for the population with which s/he works.  This psychologist must demonstrate age- and culture-specific treatment competencies, and be competent in the provision of psychological services as needed, as described in LSH’s policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

Performs Clinical Psychological Assessments/evaluations and Data Interpretation and Court Reports:

  • Completes initial psychological evaluations as necessary for patients.
  • Performs testing and/or diagnostic/mental status interviews of patients for ongoing assessment.
  • Gathers background information of patients to formulate assessment/evaluation.
  • Submits psychology SOAP note within three (3) days after the patient’s admission.
  • Completes court reports as assigned.
  • Writes all reports so that they conform to the Psychology Department Manual guidelines/hospital policies.
  • Documents services provided as required by the hospital’s Medical Records Systems Manual.

Provides Psychotherapy/Counseling Sessions:

  • Conducts individual and/or group therapy sessions, or psychosocial sessions, for patients in accordance with established best practices.
  • Conducts counseling sessions for patients on an as-needed basis.
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • Documents

Collaborates in Treatment Planning:

  • Serves as a treatment team leader (as required) and participates in treatment planning for patients on that unit.
  • Attends and organizes treatment team meetings as scheduled.
  • Provides psychological information and treatment suggestions for patients to the treatment team.
  • Facilitates Treatment Team in providing effective treatment and programming for patients on that unit.
  • Documents when needed.

Other related duties:

  • Serves as an expert witness in civil commitment cases, and forensic cases when subpoenaed/needed.
  • Provides general hospital services by serving on committees, providing consultations or teaching as requested, and giving assistance in other ways as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Masters degree in clinical psychology.
  • Positions at Mental Health Facilities require licensure at time of hire.
  • Some positions require an approved drug test unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position with the same agency performing substantially similar duties.
  • CPI Certification with 60 days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.   

Preferred Qualifications:  

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:  

  • Ability to pass a KBI background and pre-employment drug test.
